Cartagena Live

The recuperation of the Roman Theatre of Cartagena was financed by the Roman Theatre Foundation and included the incorporation of the remains into the urban fabric of the City, as well as its subsequent conservation and musealization for educative and cultural purposes.

The considerable richness of the pieces uncovered during the successive excavations have permitted the creation of a new Museum, the Roman Theatre Museum.

The Museum not only serves as a suitable exhibition venue, but due to the brilliant conception of architect Rafael Moneo, the visitor is drawn from the Plaza del Ayuntamiento deep into the interior of the monument, ultimately arriving at the most exquisite and breathtaking exhibit of all - the Roman Theatre itself.
